When an (inexplicably Australian) actress delivers the line "I'm not sure what we're going to do today. It's hard to know what to do on the day when… your husband kills himself!" and then storms off choking back sobs, then cut to Frances McDormand flashing just a glimmer of anguish behind her stoicism, is that black comedy, or moral ambiguity? Because I thought it was just perplexingly awful writing.
