There's nothing wrong with disagreeing with policies that benefit you. I disagree with a number of tax breaks I qualify for, but of course I still claim them. And I was on state sponsored healthcare for awhile after my business crashed. I desperately wanted to pay for healthcare, but the system is so broken the cheapest plan was well beyond half my income. Just because it was good for me doesn't mean it's good policy. If my parent decided they wanted to spend every dime they had on taking my family on vacations, I might say that I wasn't sure it was the best idea, but if they swore it wouldn't be a problem and insisted, I wouldn't refuse.
